It’s hard to believe that one year ago today, The Center was published and released into the world. What started as an idea in my head became a story I could actually share with readers. Watching it find its way into people’s hands and hearing from those who connected with the characters has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
Then, in August the journey continued with The Center Book 2: Recovery. Writing the second book allowed me to dive deeper into the world and the characters that had already begun to feel so real to me. Their struggles, their growth, and their relationships became something I looked forward to visiting every day when I sat down to write.
Now I’m working on Book 3, The Center: Invasion—the final chapter in their story.
And if I’m being honest, it hasn’t been easy.
For a while, I thought I had writer’s block. I would write a few pages, feel good about them, and then days would pass without writing anything more. Days quietly turned into weeks. I’d open my document, stare at the screen, and close it again. The words just wouldn’t come.
It was frustrating, and a little scary. As writers, we always wonder if the well will run dry someday.
But then, something dawned on me.
It’s not writer’s block.
The truth is, these characters I created—and fell a completely in love with—have become such a major part of my life over the past two years. I’ve lived alongside them while writing their stories. I’ve watched them face impossible situations, grow stronger, and become the people they were meant to be.
And now I’m writing the end of their story.
Letting them go is harder than I expected.
When you spend so much time in a world you created, the characters stop feeling like words on a page. They start to feel like old friends. Writing the final chapter means saying goodbye to them in a way that feels very real.
So if the writing has been slower lately, it’s not because the story isn’t there. It’s because I want to give these characters—and this world—the ending they deserve.
The good news is, the story is still unfolding. And even if it’s coming a little more slowly than I’d like, I’m still walking this final stretch with them.
Thank you to everyone who has read The Center and Recovery, and to those who continue to support this journey. Your encouragement means more than you know.
Now, it’s time for me to get back to writing… because these characters still have one more story to tell.
